![]() Samantha and Daniel ran the St. Paul Trail Marathon, a surprisingly beautiful mix of running through pretty prairies, single-track trails, and paved urban paths! It was a fun, challenging course that had consistently rolling hills. We saw some fellow River Runners and even a Mainly Marathoner at the race! This was Daniel's last long training run before Jesse and Daniel take on their next challenge, the Superior 100! ![]() Jesse and Daniel didn't run the race this year; rather, they volunteered with the setup, aid stations, and breakdown of the race. It was a great experience to be on the other side of the race and to cheer on the runners. It was humbling to see all of the hard work that volunteers do to help runners. Special thanks to the St. Cloud River Runners! ![]() Unfortunately, these races only had one half of the Minnesota Brothers in attendance, since Jesse was getting acquainted with his new job. So Daniel enlisted Samantha as a running partner. Samantha ran half-marathons and Daniel ran full marathons in Mississippi and Arkansas. Special thanks to the parents, they were great support as always!
![]() Our 50 State Quest has seen many states checked off the list this fall, most recently Ohio. Ohio was an interesting journey! We started off by driving straight through (only stopping for gas and potty parties) for about fifteen hours, just to end up being thirty minutes late for the 50k start. Fortunately, Helen the beautiful Bigfoot was kind enough to let us start an hour later with the 10 milers. So we were welcomed to a wonderful start with little to no sleep, barely enough time to stretch out, a belly full of ginger snaps (thanks Katie!), and having a terrible case of the sniffles! And if that weren't enough, the course had over 4,000 feet of gain/loss, a trail covered in slippery mud, several stream crossings, and it was a brisk 40 degrees. After nearly seven hours, countless falls (and some rolling) in the mud, and a little (ok, maybe a large) bit of sanity being questioned, we were able to check off another state! |
BrothersDaniel and Jesse Rueckert have been brothers ever since birth! Now they run, travel, and go on adventures together. This site is designed to document their adventures for the entire world to see (or just friends and family that have nothing better to do with their free time). Enjoy! Archives
